Hi

Can anybody please help!!!

I am having Windows 7 OS in my laptop. Tried to connect HP Deskjet 610c printer with the laptop using cable wire. In Windows 7, I searched for Windows update and it recognized the said printer. Now, the printer is added and I am also able to print the test page.

Now, the problem is- if I am trying to print any other document (File--->Print) then the printer prints some special character #$% etc instead of printing the document properly.

I referred the following link-

What will be the solution for this?
OR
can anybody please tell the detailed steps to connect HP Deskjet 610c printer with WIndows 7 OS?Thanks.

Welcome Sarita to the windows 7 forums.

When you say you connected the printer via a cable wire. Did you mean via a USB cable?

Also, did you download from HP the proper drivers for you version of windows 7? ie 64 bit windows 7

Also, many times, before you connect any usb printer, you should install the proper software
and then when It asks you, then plug in the printer and turn it on.

This usually installs the printer correctly.

1. Yes, connected the printer from laptop via USB cable.

2. Searched HP site for proper driver of Windows 7. What I found is, in Windows 7 when you will do Windows update, it searches automatically your 610c printer (in-OS print driver) and allows you to add it.

once Windows installs the driver for the printer go to the Device Manger and look for the USB that shows the Printer, right click on it and look at the General Tab, look for "Port_#0004.Hub_#0001". Now open the Device and Printers window, and right click on the printer. Choose Printer Properties and look for the "Ports" tab, look for the Port that you showed up in the Device Manger and put a check next to it. Click ok and now you should be able to print. If not check the Printing QueQue, make sure the printer is not in Pause mode or Offline mode.
