I just installed a new hard drive. I forwarded all of my e-mails to g-mail as attachments. They have an .elm extension. Now that I have Windows 7 and Windows Live mail installed, I can't open them. When I click on them Windows live starts , but the e-mail is not there. Where did it go. I am confused. Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks RoadRunner, I've tried everything that I can think of with no luck. I have made WLM my default, did repair from install, tried the import-export. I've found out from Google that I'm not the only one with this problem. What I really don't understand is when you export an e-mail from WLM it puts a .eml extension on it. When you try to import the same file with WLM it won't. Doesn't make sense that the same program that made it can't open it. If I copy it to my desktop then drag it to the in box, it will open it but with a lot of garbage. a lot of = signs and whatever. Hope someone finds the solution.
Regards Clint

Clint, I think it might be because you don't sign-in to WLM with a Windows Live ID i.e. a hotmail dot com email account.

I just got an update from Windows Live. It fixed my e-mail problem. I can now click on an .elm file and it opens in Windows Live Mail. Thanks for all the suggestions anyway.
