Adding Old hard drives to new computer

I just bought a new computer with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit . I added 2 hard drives from my old computer to the new one. The old computer was Windows XP 32 bit with a Raid 1 configuration. I just want the added hard drives as storage and non raid. The installation went smoothly but the new computer recognizes the 2 added hard drives as one drive. Also when I boot up, the boot screen from the old computer shows briefly with the intel raid 1 info. The question is if I format the old hard drives will they show up as two seperate drives and will the raid 1 info go away. Kind of confused on what to do - Thanks for the help, John

A format will restore the drives to non-raided drives.
You can also go into the BIOS and select RAID and delete the RAID 1 setup on the drives.
The simplest way is to just format them.

Thanks for the info. I formatted the hard drive(s), did a clean in the dispart command facility and still have a problem with only one disk showing up. Under the volume details on the disk, it states Intel Raid 1 Volume SCSI Disk device. When I disable this program, the disk or disks do not show up. In the bios facility, my main hard disk plus the 2 added disks are listed. In the configuration window they are all listed as "Raid". Should I change the option to "AHCI"? I am totally lost with this. All I want to do is get rid of this raid crap and have two additional storage disks. Thanks, John

AHCI is the driver for the raid set up...you need to change it to sata in the bios for all your drives.

Once you change that in the BIOS, then reformat both drives again...then check in disk management and see if they show up correctly.

Yes, In the BIOS select AHCI. Reboot.
You may have to initialize the drive in Disk Management.

Getting nervous about messing with the Bios in a brand new computer just to use old hard drives. Thinking about discarding the drives and buying a new back up drive without the raid stuff.
