Really slow / unresponsive for 10 - 15 minutes after boot / log-in

I'm not sure what happened to cause this but one day (around 2 weeks ago) my laptop running Windows 7 started taking really long to log in. For 2 years I never had any issues, and it would boot / log in and be ready for use within a minute.

For the last 2 weeks, every time I try to log in (whether the laptop was powered off or sleeping), my computer is unresponsive / lagging and slow for at least 10 minutes (no programs work, nothing will open, etc.). After a lengthy period of time after log in, it seems to operate normally until I don't use it long enough for it to go back to sleep, and then I experience the same issue when I attempt to log back in.

It's becoming unbearable, so I'm hoping to find a solution to the problem.

Finally, run an anti virus scan. Download and run a full scan with malwarebytes. Be sure to update before the scan.

Several possible causes.

For testing purposes:
WIN | type MSCONFIG | General tab | Diagnostic startup radio button | OK button
RESTART!

WIN=key with microsoft flag on top

Afterwards, you may go back to msconfig and clear the radio button.

Let us know the results.

If you haven't already I would Clean Up Factory Bloatware.

If that fails work through these Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7

I did this, however the startup / windows loading / log in time was still over 15 minutes. What's my next move?

selective programs un responsive after booting

i am using windows7 ultimate 32 bit on an intel dual core 2.20ghz..recently when i login to my desktop ,selective programmes become unresponsive for first 15 minutes.. ie doen't work ,chrome works.. start button is unresponsive..gadgets don't come up ... time and date settings when opened freezes. i tried opening up msconfig but it also does'nt open!!!
