How can I make my PDF's stay open even after restart?

I have to read a lot of PDF's, the problem is obviously if I have to restart or turn off my PC, when I re-open them, they are back at the beginning. I can just put the last page number I was reading in the filename, which I do, but I just wondered if there was a quicker way, a way to make them stay put.

This is for Adobe Reader 9.

1. Click Edit and select Preferences.

2. When the Preferences window appears, choose the category named Documents.

3. In the right section of the window, there will be a section labeled "Open Settings." Click the box next to Restore last view settings when reopening documents.

The document will retain the view settings every time it is opened.
---------
From the Edit menu, choose Accessibility and then Setup Assistant. Choose to configure the options yourself, and then scroll through all 5 pages of them. On the very last page you'll see a check box that says "reopen documents to the last viewed page". Select it and you're done.
Make Acrobat Reader Open Where You Left Off
---------
I use PDF-XChange Viewer, and it looks like this.

And to think I've been using PDF's all these years without figuring out such a helpful function. Well, there's a tell that I'm unlikely to ever contribute to the progress of mankind. Thank you sir.

I didn't know about that either till a few years ago.

It was when I started using PDF-XCange Viewer. It installed with that setting by default. :)
