ASUS GT240 graphics card "ERROR CAN NOT FIND GRAPHICS CARD" Can anyone help me with this error message? I can hear the windows startup sound but it shows no display so i plugged the cable into the motherboad and an error box opend wich stated "ERROR CAN NOT FIND GRAPHICS CARD" with no additional information. I searched online and found that asus smart doctor can cause this and they recommend that you uninstall and reinstall the drivers to fix this problem but the pc is not picking up the graphics card to reinstall all the needed drivers. I also found people with the same problem and after they did a clean install of windows7/vista and all the drivers the error box still appeared. Does anyone know how to resolve this problem? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Do you have the PCIe set as first to initialize in the BIOS? Also, have you tried the card in another slot on the MoBo? Have you tried cleaning out the slot with canned air? Have you tried using a pencil eraser to gently clean the contacts in the GPU where it plugs into the PCIe?

And please, thoroughly fill out your System Specs by clicking on the tab under your post.

Okay, well, if you tried using the card on another pc and got the same error, then you have a bad GPU.

Also, you did not answer my question about the BIOS setting. Please go into the BIOS and make sure the video is set to PCIe and not onboard. It shouldn't make a difference at this point, but just rule it out.

Witch leaves me with 2 options, 1: Buy new card or 2: Send it in to find the problem? Its hard for me to believe physical damage occurred overnight in an enclosed box... cant think of anything that could of caused the graphics card not to pick up anymore > I just configured pci settings in bios same end result...

If windows does not verify the card on two separate machines, it is MOST likely bad. Do you have another card to test?

Oh, I see. I saw the Florida flag and thought MAYBE I could assist, but, I won't be in S.A. anytime soon. :D

My friend, what you do from here is up to you. But my experience tells me that a card that won't post in two machines and gets the same error code in both machines, is bad. You can take it to a PC shop and have them attempt to take it for a test drive, but I suspect that you will pay them as much to tell you it's dead, as you would to buy another card.

Best of luck.

I don't know how to not choose a state (deselect that option) so I used Florida I live in in SA . Ive found many forums with people having the exact same problem with ASUS graphics cards and smart doctor not detecting/picking up that there is a card in the slot eg:

ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Forum- Can not find graphics card information.

Asus Smartdoctor Corrupts G. Drivers

Asus Smart Doctor problem with Windows 7 - Windows Software

there are more but all with different solutions and Ive tried EVERYTHING... and nothing has worked. My next step is to send it in for repairs but the cost of finding the problem and not fixing it is steep and paying to fix it could cost the same or more than just buying a new one. Thank you for all your help.
