User reinstalled Win7 failng to back up Quickbooks folder from Users/Public or elsewhere. Reformatted and reinstalled. Is there any hope for recovery? They had not made a backup.
If it's really important, that system should be shut down and not used. Then, have the person contact a professional data recovery service. There may be hope using software like EaseUS (first one I found while googling - in no way an endorsement), but that might end up lessening the chances of recovery.

He's using Easeus Data Recovery Wizard Professional which is 2/3 finished and has found a lot of files searching only for .qbb and .qbw extensions. But once the results are in, is it going to be hash or is there a possible way to put it back together - anyone know?
He's reinstalled Win7 to 30gb of a 500gb HD, so I figure it's better than 90% chance it's not overwritten, only wonder how hard it will be to piece all the QB files it's finding back together.
Turns out he was able to convert an accountant's copy to backup and restore the data. Updates had to be done for file not to error out as corrupt during subsequent backup.
Company file is now sync'ed on all machines and to the cloud using Skydrive's new Explorer app.
