Hello

I was wondering If I have one sata 1 and an new sata 2(or 3) on my PC installed on my PC... will cause problems in transfer speeds?

My Blue-ray is sata 1 also...

Does this mean that all disks will work as sata 1?

All SATA devices operate independently of each other. The transfer rate is governed chiefly by the device speed, and each device can operate simultaneously at that speed. Contrast that to PATA devices, where the maximum speed of devices attached to a single cable is that of the slowest attached. In addition, delays (and effective reduction in speed) are caused when both devices on the cable need to be accessed (only one device can utilise the interface at a time, the other device has to wait until the interface becomes free). In all cases, drivers and CPU/memory speed throughput are also a factor.

Thanks for the answer.

Each device will be connected to its own cable I think...
My vaio "vpcf11m1e h" Mobo support sata 2 and I'm just wondering if:

-Replace the blueray with an ssd sata 2
-Keep also the hitachi sata 1 disk

Will that affect ssd speed?(If I get your answer right there will be no problems)
