if i running my laptop on battery, does it matter how many applications i run at the same time

ie one application more battery time

Generally speaking a computer does work and uses battery. The more work, the more battery it uses. If your CPU is set to performance it will use more battery, set to power saver less (both on laptops).

So yes more work, less battery life.

Small difference.

The primary consumer of power in a laptop is the display and this is by a very large margin.

Although processor usage can have an effect, the effect is small compared to that of the display.

If you would like:
WIN + X | Battery Status section | Choose between Power Saver, Balanced, and High performance

WIN + X | Brightness section | slide the slider to the lowest level acceptable

WIN = key with Microsoft logo on top

All good stuff and correct Karl. He just asked "if" it mattered and though small it does.

Go to the Power options in the Screen saver section after you right click on an empty space on Desktop and select Personalize.

Select eco mode or power saver mode. In the power saver mode, click on change power plan settings.

Here you have four options for battery operation and another four options for Plugged in to power outlet.

Turn off Display ---------------2 mins ----------------------------------10 mins
Put the computer to sleep ---10 mins ----------------------------------Never
Adjust plan brightness -------move slider for barely comfortable ----make it bright.

The computer's screen is the main power hog. For longer battery time make the screen's brightness barely minimum so that you can just see the screen fair enough.

Try to avoid the multimedia players listening to music.

With these settings you will get maximum battery operation while you are on the move.

Don't worry much about running more than one application. If you really need them then go ahead, but it is better to shutdown the apps you are not using for a long time. You can always open them at the time of need.
