SOLVED: Win7 version confusion...

Hi

on my work computer I have a Win7 that was installed using an ISO from the net (MS download was below 5kb/s) and a valid Technet serial number. The german language pack is installed as well.

It's supposed to be a Win7 professional 64bit, but if I run "sysver" I get this box:

http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/cd23-1.png

It obviously says "Windows 7 professional" in the header, but in the text it's "Windows 7 Home Premium E" which is also the info shown in "Control Panel -> System". The startup screen says Win7 pro as well...

Now, which version am I using?!
My guess is that the language Pack is just playing tricks on me...
Anybody know a win7pro-only function I can try to run off the top of their head?

Thanks
jim

You may have installed you OS from an Ultimate DVD, but the key you used (or the edition you chose) was Home Premium. That's one possible explanation.

To be sure, find C:\Windows\Explorer.exe and get 'Properties>Details"

Right-click on your 'Computer' in the Start menu, get Properties. The top portion of that screen will (should) display the edition you're running.

Check System Information > OS Name. (Type sys in Run and youll see it)

Run cmd as Admin,
type these
1. slmgr -dli
2. slmgr -xpr ( this will display a partial Key that you used, so if you dont feel like ok to put a screenshot on that use paint to erase that key)

What do they say,

Both return "Windows 7 professional" - I'm pretty sure it has to do with the language pack.

Thanks for your replies, I'm gonna mark this as "solved"

edit: don't know how to "mark as solved"?!

That's an interesting conclusion and you could very well be right. ;)

Make it 'Solved' by editing your original post - 'go advanced' to alter the title.
