Not Sold on Win 7

I know this first one is pretty much my fault; using a Beta Program on a pc that doubles as an at home work computer however the fact I cannot run Quickbooks is unacceptable - meaning sending invoices, statement, etc. There are fixes available online for the pdf convertor problem that I have fixed on my work and friend's pcs (Vista x64) but the fix will not work Win 7.

Additionally, I have problem with anti-spam settings in Outlook that crashes my pc if I close the message box (no fixes solved this one) and the fact almost all my USB devices have to be plugged directly into the front inputs on my tower to work - ehhhhhhhhhhh, what is the deal here? My DLink Hub is now mangled with loose wires - neither one of my externals register either.

I don't know about this one; it seems to work so much more fluid than XP but then again, I get error messages, blue screen with memory dumps and a printer that has a personality - so it only works sometimes now.

Is this because of lack of support meaning still in Beta or are there really this many bugs that haven't been worked out.

The thought of downgrading to Vista (Ugggh) to get these issues to work is unsettling. I didn't mention that the fact while I was typing this message the cursor left the message box four times and went page backwards twice? Huh?!?!?!?

Your installed version might be Beta, but Windows 7 is out of Beta. Post your system specs and maybe someone can help - with individually described problems.

Hi Canman, welcome to the forums
Please post your system specs, that way it will be easier to get help. Many of your poroblems seem to be hardware related. I beleive you have made sure the USB HUB is correctly recognized by your BIOS, right (it should if it worked before)?

I didn't mention that the fact while I was typing this message the cursor left the message box four times and went page backwards twice? Huh?!?!?!?
Double 'Huh???". You sure you don't have any bugs? I have never seen that hapenning.

Yep its beta. even in beta it has good driver support for 32bit. 64 still can be a bit of a problem. If we knew what your hardware was (by filling in yur system specs lower left corner) we could comment on the availability for drivers.

Is there another place or something else to copy for more detailed system specs? It is store bought so I don't know about mobo / memory / etc. Where can I find details on this. I filled in some other info on my profile too.

Yeah, I probably have a whole array of bugs - the cursor just stops and disappears while typing - I have to click back on the spot where it stopped. I type up a whole message on another form and then it backpedaled to the forum on its own - had to retype it again. So far, my cursor has disappeared twice during this message. Enabled short keys or something?

Thanks all for all your help - it is appreciated!

I think it is his writing cursor (how do you call this thing?), that keeps on changing places. Maybe it is Boris in Ukraine the one actually using the computer, which became a zombie by now :)

Guys, the OP's thread is not the United Nations - save it for the chillout room please.

Cannman, I suggest you check in device manager for any exclamation points or yellow triangles beside any devices.

I suspect you may not have your chipset drivers installed. This would go towards explaining your USB, keyboard, BSoD's and printer problems.

Have you run Windows Update to let it find updated drivers for devices? ie your printer

Very good suggestion. That might also explain the wild cursor, if his mouse is sending ramdon signals interpreted like movements or clicks.
Awaiting news...

Canman, check if your drivers and BIOS are up to date. HP does not have any Win7 drivers yet, the last Vista 64 BIOS is version 5.32 from 12/2008 (Select software and drivers HP Pavilion Media Center m8430f Desktop PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English))
Asus does not support your board directly since it is OEM, I checked if they had any BIOS updates, but they don't list the IPIBL-LB. You might want to check their site for a similar board and use those drivers, they have new Win7x64 drivers available. ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-
HP does not have any chipset drivers, but the board uses a Intel G33 chipset, and Intel has an update, you can find it here: Download Search Results
Did you add the GeForce 8500GT? The original specs call for Integrated graphics using Intel GMA 3100. If you do have a NVidia board, you want to visit Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers . Click on Option 2 to detect your drivers and it will tell you what the latest updates are
If you have the intel graphics you might also want to run their driver detection tool as well, it might tell you if something else is missing: Intel® Driver Update Utility for graphics drivers - Check for the latest driver

That is all I can think of right now. Let us know how it works

Canman, I have been running Quickbooks Pro 2007 in all of the Beta,RC & RTM versions with no problems. You do have to set it to run in admin mode. Haven't updated QB to the newer versions because i don't need the new features.

Hi everyone,

This will be my last official post on my Win 7 OS, I am downgrading to Vista 64 bit. Over the past 24 hours I have experienced several other problem; blue screen twice once stating "bad pool driver" and other "bugcode usb driver." I am exhausted trying to figure this out, at least until the official roll-out where I can find support for my components. I am getting way too behind in my work and need to stop the hemorrhaging.

Thank you all very much - will add props to all that stopped by to help - but as I said it is just too complex for me to spend endless amounts of time trying to get it right. See you all in a few after I get an official Win 7 and a proper update to my BIOS.

Cheers from Bermuda!! ;)
