Upgrade gave me black screen w/ mouse pointer only!

Upgraded to Windows7 Bit32 from Vista on HP desktop machine. The only thing I get is a black screen after the startup and a mouse pointer, but nothing else.

Run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times.

If this fails work through these steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot which lead up to possibly rescuiing any files needed to get a superior Clean Install.

Thanks for the the advice. Luckily though Microsoft Tech Support was able to sort it out for me. Ended up the Windows 7 Upgrade hadn't been completed...and I couldn't tell because the HP Desktop Graphic Display didn't support Windows 7.

The tech support had me press F8 at startup and enable low-resolution option to see the screen options to finish the Windows 7 upgrade. After that she went in and found the NVidia Graphic updates for Windows 7 and reset the monitor resolution. After that...no problems!

Wish I'd known about F8...would have saved me the hassle.
