Hello forum,

This seems a very strange problem/question to me. When I first installed my OS windows 7 I created a username Jacque (administrator), and after several months, I changed the username to Jacques. Now in the logon screen it is Jacques which seems normal, but in the C:/Users directory, it is still Jacque. It didn't bother me at first until sometimes when I was requested to offer my username by some software, if I input Jacques (the new one), I would be blocked for inputting a wrong username. I have to input the old one (Jacque) to make it work.

So I wonder what is actually my username? Can I delete the old one permanently and stick only with the new one?

Thank you!

Hi bonedriven, follow this View attachment Auto Log-On.pdf till second image appears. There should be a tick in your image, click your username then properties.

Thank you very much, Roderunner !
So it shows my user name is Jacque (the old one), and full name is (Jacques), which I want it to be.
One more question, is it safe to change the user name there in the properties windows?
Or maybe it's best that I leave it like that, and just keep in mind that my user name is the former one, right?

C:/Users/Jacque < will never change unless you create a new user. Your user folder will have the user name you used the first time you created your user account. If you change your user name it will change on the logon screen and just about everywhere else in Windows but not your original user folder. It can be confusing. One way around it is to create a new user account with the new name and then transfer everything over. Then once you are sure you have everything you delete the old user account.

No problem, I don't know why, but that's the way it is?
