Hi guys,

I am looking at buying a new cooler rather than having stock for my GTX 470.
I seem to get idle temps at around 60c which is normal for GTX 470 on stock cooler. though the fan is quite loud.

I was looking at getting this:
Gelid Solutions Icy Vision Graphics Card Cooler - GEL-ICY-VISION - Scan.co.uk

Is this a good buy?

If you suggest anything else please make sure they ship to UK :).

Thanks all in advance,

No way, sorry I have tried one of them before and they are far too loud!

I think I might just go with the Gelid wing. Seems to be good for other members on Youtube and other forums, kinda done a bit of research.

I have GTX 460-SE, my cooling system is the stock fan on the graphics card itself, plus an open computer case. I removed the side panel of my case to keep the heat from getting trapped and accumulating. However it collects more dust (which I can clean easily with air sprayer), I found it to be most efficient.

The stock fan is just too loud for my build though.

One minor warning: it may be difficult to undo such an upgrade, should you ever wish to.

The graphics cards that I've taken apart used thick thermal pads between the VRAM and the stock heat sink, rather than heatsink compound (thermal paste).

Some aftermarket coolers use adhesive to bond the VRAM and other individual heatsinks to the chips. I don't know how easy that is to remove.

I don't know about cost/performance, but Arctic Cooling products seem to be highly regarded:

ARCTIC

(The page is for coolers that are supposed to fit a GTX 470.)
