A few questions about overclocking for my friend and I.

Okay,

So first my questions.

Tomorrow my friend said he'd overclock my Processor and Graphics Card so I can play games and stuff. But I was wondering if that was a smart move? And is there anything that I can overclock myself that wont harm the computer? Maybe anything that would help my Upgrade Package issue?

And Now for my friend's issue.

He's been having some issues overclocking his computer.

I told him to give me some of his system specs and the issues he's been having and what he wants to do.

System specs -
processor : a6 3650 APU with Integrated radeon graphics , 2.6ghz ,
Motherboard : Asrock a75m-hvs
And he has no dedicated graphics card.

He overclocked the fsb of his processor to 122mhz and raised up the vots from 1.4125v to 1.5000, and ever since then his computer freezes after every 10-20 minutes of use.

He wants mainly to stop the freezing of his computer. He also wanted me to ask for him if raising the volts up any higher is okay.

I know this is a big ask, but I hope you guys will be able to help in anyway!

Google/Bing

I've never OCed that chip series so I've no idea what the safe voltages are. But upping the FSB is probably also raising the RAM mhz while keeping the same timings.

So it could be insufficient vcore or the RAM timings need to be loosened.

It's always best to do a little research firts rather than going in willy nilly and just upping settings without knowing the side effects.

These days you dont have to over volt unless you plan on an oc of around 700 mhz or higher, over volting is where the dangers start. also you must be sure to have an aftermarket cpu cooler to keep safe cpu temps. unless the cpu has an unlocked multiplyer when you overclock you are oc'ing the base speeds including your memory, cpu, and gpu... speeds and that is where you will get stability issues if not configured right. oc'ing should not be done if you have no real exp. be advised that you could smoke your system easy! if you want exp start slow, and read alot before you start pushing buttons! Good luck :)
