Hi Guys,

Similar problem to others in forum. I'm creating an EXE with gcc and visual studio and sometimes the EXE gets locked for a short time (say 2 or 3 minutes). During this time, I can't delete the EXE and I can't use any of the suggested fixes in other parts of the forum. Unlocker doesn't work; command line security commands don't work; trying to take ownership doesn't work.
On investigation, the EXE was owned by me, but the compiler creates a new EXE with an unknown user as owner and although I am administrator, I can't change ownership, change permission or do anything with the file. After a while the file reverts to being owned by me and I can use it again.
Very puzzling. I'm using Avira as a virus checker and am wondering if it is to blame, but I can't shut Avira down unless I uninstall it. Any ideas?

Regards

Uninstall Avira just for a test - go off line in that makes you feel safer.

You can also try process monitor and filter on the tool doing the exe build.
