Hay,

Thanks for taking the time to read this thread

I own a copy of Command & Conquer The first decade,

Whenever I want to launch any of the game from it, I get the following Error message:
" You have encountered a serious error. Serious error can be caused by many thing including virus, overheated hardware and hardware that does not meet the minimum specifications for the game. please visit the forums as www.generals.ea.com for suggestion course of action or consult your manual for technical support contract information "

I have tried starting it Windows XP (services pack) 3, and I know that I haven't got a virus due to have Norton which at least stop something.. And EA is the most useless help in the world. I also know it not my Graphics cards since I have a 560 Ti Geforce 1GB.

Could someone please tell me how to fix this situation?!

I know it a Old game but I have played it for a long time :)
(I own Windows 7 Ultimate x64)

Thanks

Kian

I've encountered the very same problem and found the solution. It's due an issue with permissions on the data folders where the game stores its settings. Open "my documents\Command and Conquer Generals Data" and make sure your user has full control over that folder. Also, if it doesn't exists already, create a file named "Options.ini" there and again make sure your user has full control. Then run the game again.

Also if it doesn't works, look in this thread too: http://www.sevenforums.com/gaming/40036-command-conquer-generals-4.html#post983665
