chkdsk Error detected in index $I30

Hi there, i am quite new to this site so i really dont know where to post this but i really need help right now...i just turned on my computer and it will not start normally and does not go passed the login screen but when i put it on safe mode it loads everything. i did a chkdsk command and having errors in that as well :/ can someone seriously help me out, i use my computer for everything and normally i can fix anything that happens on a computer but this has got me stumped please help if you can, thank you...

okay so i pressed start normally, and it took forever then went to a straight black screen and nothing...the time before it went on to the computer but every application ive uninstalled and moved into folders all were on the desktop and all my files were gone i couldnt get into anything then it froze and restarted..all this happened like a week after re-installing Norton 360....somebody please help me out here

The index errors are, generally, minor glitches. You probably have other issues.

Get to your desktop in Safe Mode.
Find your command prompt, right-click and run as administrator.

Type chkdsk /f

This will restart your pc and run the utility.
Let us know if you can now boot normally.

Please fill in your complete specs.

Other stuff we can work on:
Offline malware scan; memory check; repair install among them. But one at a time.

Do you have access to a friend's CLEAN computer?

i also have the same problem.

chkdsk /f is not working for me. nor i am able to perform scans. memory check through control panel says disk problem and it does not get sorted. if i try to restore the system i get a message that it cant be performed due to disk problem

Please, as requested, fill in your System Specs. I recommend the use of Speccy to collect info.

Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (located on the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec (left-hand column)

To gather info, use Speccy (my favorite) or SIW or System Info

In the System Manufacturer Block, enter:
Manufacturer and Model and
ADD the word laptop, desktop, netbook or tablet.
For example:
Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES.

You will find that in Speccy, you can select info from the display
using your mouse/touchpad and then paste that info into your specs.

SIW is a marvelous program, but the free version does not offer
this capability.

Now since your problems started with Norton 360, 100% removal of Norton 360 would be an extremely logical approach.

After removing, then immediately install MSE, Microsoft Security Essentials. This wonderful free software from Microsoft is excellent and the only anti-malware used by myself and many, many, many other professionals.
