BSOD 3-4 times/day

Hi, I have a laptop with a company image that is installed on over 700 laptops throughout the company so I can verify that the image is sound.

Is Windows 7 . . .
- x86 (32-bit)
- Company Image
- less than 1 year old laptop (Lenovo x220)

It is bluescreening almost every couple of days or so.

I have enabled driver verifier and it has not blue screeened so far.

Software Concerns:
Windows 7: Consumer security software providers does not list Sophos. Is it required by your company that you use it for security?

Spybot Search and Destroy is not the best malware/spyware utility. Take a look at http://www.sevenforums.com/system-s...-system-security-combination.html#post1732627 for better options.​


Analysis:
All your crashes were network related. I suspect the above are contributing to the crashes. Crashes directly blame:

Sophos is a company requirement unfortunately so no way I can remove this.Spybot has now been removed.


I will uninstall checkpoint and re-install a newer version which should get around the issue.

Now I am interested to see where in the files you found that "Start Menu\Programs\Check Point VPN-1 SecureClient was causing the issue and how you knew that the checkpoint drivers were causing the issue ( Because they are older than 2009)?

The above is an outtake from the WinDbg analysis. It provides information about what the probable cause of your crash was. Nearly all of the crashes were the same, but some blamed your Intel network driver (not likely given it is up to date) or a network driver that comes with Windows (also not likely unless you have a corrupted Windows install). I looked at those that had a clear 3rd party cause, and your Checkpoint software was always to blame when the other two were not.

Just realized fw.sys does not show up in the Carrona DRT, but it is Checkpoint related based on a Google search.

Hey,

Right so I have removed the checkpoint software and upgraded it. The laptop has just bluescreened again and I am at a bit of a loss to what is causing this.

I have just removed the dameware keyboard drive as this may also be causing an issue.

I have attached the minidump and the rest of the info was attached in a previous post.

I am at a loss as to why this is still happening. If anyone can please assist it would be much appreciated.

Re-Install Network Adapter Drivers:
Re-install all network adapter drivers. You will find them listed under Network adapters in Device Manager.


To fully re-install a driver, use the following steps.
  1. First, download the latest driver. Then do the next steps.
  2. Click Start Menu
  3. Right Click My Computer/Computer
  4. Click Manage
  5. Click Device Manager from the list on the left
  6. Find the device you are trying to uninstall by expanding the appropriate set of devices
  7. Right click the device
  8. Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
  9. Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
  10. Restart your computer only if Windows asks you to.
  11. Install the latest driver for the device.

Alternatively:
  1. Login as an adminstrative user.
  2. First, download the latest driver. Then do the next steps.
  3. Click Start Menu
  4. Click Control Panel
  5. Click Hardware and Sound
  6. Click Device Manager (the last link under Devices and Printers)
  7. Find the device you are trying to uninstall by expanding the appropriate set of devices
  8. Right click the device
  9. Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
  10. Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
  11. Restart your computer only if Windows asks you to.
  12. Install the latest driver for the device.


Re-Install Sophos Security Software (If Possible):
Do you at least have the option to uninstall Sophos and then install it again? If so, do so. If not, ask your IT department to help you do so. You may want to ask the IT department to help you do so anyway so you are sure it is removed properly; most antivirus programs require special steps to be removed safely so remnants do not remain to cause conflicts later.​


Remove the Checkpoint Software Completely to Test:
If the above does not resolve your problems, consider removing the Checkpoint software completely for a few days to test whether the problems then stop.​
