Display Driver has stopped responding and has recovered successfully

Hi

I could have sworn I made a thread already but i guess not.

I have had this Display Driver has stopped responding and has recovered successfully error ever since I have purchased my HD 7770.

I contacted HIS and they told me to disable ULPS. I have but it still crashes.

The speeds of the card have not been touched and temps when Idle are 27-30c.

I cannot even render a video in Sony Vegas Pro without it getting the error. when that happens vegas pro crashes and i must start the render again. Its PAINFUL!

other times are in games.

Counter Strike Source crashes when I get the MOTD (message of the day) or I select to buy weapons. if i start the game again its all fine?!?!

I have a 700w CoolerMaster eXtreme Power Plus

Catalyst 12.4 (most stable I have tried 12.6)

CCC overdrive settings. Core: Default Mem: default Power +20 for extra headroom

I downgraded to 12.3 from HIS website (the drivers for when it came out) and still the same.


reapplied thermal paste and swapped 6pin psu connector (maybe the other was faulty)

no change.

I can tell you right now everyone with a 7000 Series card has this issue
also 12.3 isnt a driver made for this series

12.6 is your best bet if not there is a new beta out that you could go and get but by all means dont use a driver that wasn't designed for this series you are creating issues for yourself AMD Catalyst 12.x (8.982.0.0 RC1 July 19) Unofficial BETA - Guru3D.com Forums I have downloaded and installed it and seems to work pretty well

Hi!

I have a new breakthrough. I searched on google and a bunch of sites said to overclock my 2D speeds.

I have done so and am in the middle of a render where normally it would crash at 1%

It looks promising but not 100% fixed due to this question:

The card was giving the error more frequently if i raised the 3D clocks slightly. what has changing 2d clocks got to do with that?

The 12.7 Beta was released i tried it today and made it worse before i changed the 2d speeds

The link i gave you wasnt for 12.7 beta it is a newer driver then the 12.7 not even out yet and is a better performer then the 12.7 beta

it's up to you though to tell you the truth it onl;y crashes when you close a web browser to fast that is what i noticed other then that it runs alright
