SOLVED Win7 setup ACPI not compatible?

Hey everyone I really need some help with this:
I just burnt my Win7 install .iso to a DVD and rebooted my computer ready for the installation. I wait for the windows files to load, then when the bar is full, the screen goes to a blue screen with this message:

"...The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor for an updated BIOS.
Technical information:
*** STOP: 0x0000000A5 (0x0000000000001000, 0x0000000000000000, 0x00000000FFFFFFFF, 0x0000000000002040)"

Please help me sort this out, I have a fairly new computer that has been running XP SP3 without error thus far, and I am very keen to make the leap to Win7. Any and all help is most appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hello & Welcome Simonsiknasty,

Thanks for filling in you specs :)

Check in your Bios setup where you can turn ACPI "On" or "Off"

Also a lot of us have found win7 installs best the first time with 2 gb ram, then the other 2gb can be added later when it is running smoothly & all needed drivers have been installed. There are a lot of great members here to help you with problems.
Just keep asking questions & giving us the best details for the situation.

I've been into the BIOS setup a couple of times. The ACPI Function is ENABLED and the ACPI Suspend Type is S1 (POS) from memory.

I have tried installing the latest drivers for my chipset as well.

Windows 7 installs best the first time with 2 gb ram
Are you suggesting that I take out my RAM and then give the installation a go?

Okay here goes...
I must admit I'm rather pessimistic but however.
One question; how to safely remove the RAM and where to put it after taking it out?

How many chips is it ? 1, 2, 3, 4 ? Just remove & put somewhere safe so it will not get broken, until you re-install it later. ;)

Sweet it came out nicely (I have two chips 2GB each).

However when I restarted, I went to boot menu, and booted from CD. The windows loaded files. Then it showed the loading bar that Windows 7 shows when you turn the computer on. After that then it went to what appeared to be a Windows 7 desktop minus everything but the wallpaper and mouse (in something like 800x600 resolution).
What's up with that?

I think I know why it might have shown a wallpaper and mouse.
Usually when I have a disk that can be booted off, upon startup a black screen shows that says at the bottom "To boot from CD push any key..."

The way that I booted from the CD before, I had to go into the Boot Menu from the Motherboard screen on startup, as after multiple restarts, the black screen that I usually see was not there.

Do you know how to enter the bios setup of the computer by hitting the DEL key or one of the Function keys for your particular computer ? Then usually you can change the boot order there.
