Are those just some software gimmic or they do actually help?

I recently built a new PC using an ASRock Z77 Professional motherboard. I installed those programs but really don't notice any difference over another PC that is not using those.

The Xfast USB drivers they supply cause a compatibility error with the installed OS, Win 7 64 bit Home Premium.
