Solved Random BSOD and System Freeze several times daily

Hi folks. Signed up to the forum specifically to ask about this problem I'm having with my 2-month old laptop.

It's an Acer Aspire V3-471G. Full specs are on my system specs page.

Basically, I've been experiencing a combination of BSOD and System Freeze/Crash problems several times on a daily basis over the past few weeks.

The first time experienced the BSOD was around three weeks after buying this laptop. I just shrugged it off as a fluke at first, but then it started becoming more frequent and now the system also just freezes out of the blue.

I haven't identified a specific pattern when it encounters a BSOD and when the system freezes. The closest to a pattern that I can identify is that every morning when I wake up, I wake up to my laptop already having the BSOD.

Totally clueless here. I've attached the zip file of my diagnostic logs so that maybe one of you gurus out there can tell me what you think is going wrong with my system.

Rest assured, when I wake up tomorrow, my laptop will have the BSOD again if I leave it open.

Hello valacirca and welcome to Sevenforums.

* Is the PC still available for RMA?
* What did you install just on top of your head, when you just got the PC?
* What diagnoses have you done so far?
* What's your temperatures just before a crash? Make sure you don't put it on your pillow or something around those lines.

Thank you for updating your system specs.

There are a few things going on here. First of all, you had a blocked IRP as the first frame shows. I looked the address up, and surprisingly it was related to your nvlddmkm, which also showed up in the 'Probably Caused By'-line. It turns out it cannot show and display the error given, and during the !devobj investigation, sptd.sys shows up -- Daemon Tools a known BSOD causer.

1) Daemon Tools is installed. It's a known BSOD causer on some systems, therefore it's a recommendation to uninstall it. Instead you could use MagicISO as a replacement. To get fully rid of the Daemon Tools roots and drivers, use this tool.

Sptd.sys remover

2) Different culprits pointed towards your NVIDIA Graphics Driver. Driver Sweeper will ensure that you'd have a clean install at the end of the procedure, and by that no leftover files that'd bork the system.

* Make your way to Nvidia Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers and download the latest driver for your card, save it to your desktop for instance.
* Uninstall the Graphic driver you currently have and all its extensions (do not reboot yet)
* Download Driver Sweeper
* Get to safe mode (without network) and search for Driver Sweeper in your :orb:
* Select all the Nvidia components and analyse them
* Clean them, head into Windows without internet and install the driver you downloaded previously

3) Enable verifier. (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/101379-driver-verifier-enable-disable.html)

thanks for the initial suggestions. will try to cover as much of those as possible.

will download these nvidia driver btw: GEFORCE R304 DRIVER v306.02 (beta)

(...there doesn't seem to be a notebook graphics driver available for download which supports the GeForce GT 640M that is not beta...)

You don't want to be the biggest fan of BETA drivers, they're not covering all your system needs and it's quite risky in a lot of cases. Instead, just go ahead and catch the latest WHQL driver, or let Windows download the driver it recommends. It's older, but it has probably been through more stress tests.
Either way, start by the WHQL one -- you can try the BETAs but don't expect it to work smooth. :)

Best Regards,
Frederik.

^ Thanks Frederik. I understand that, but I can't seem to find any drivers for my GPU that isn't beta.

The drivers it came with were WHQL certified, but I installed over that and can't find it for download on the nvidia site.

As you'll see, nvidia only gives me these drivers for my video card and they're all beta...

PmUAJ.jpg

I might try downloading the latest beta drivers.
