What to do with unused cables on a non modular psu?

As the title says really what can be done apart from ties ect,I'm thinking along the line ov removing them all together can this be done?within reason of coarse.Iv'e noticed you can get psu pin removal tool kits.It would be just a simple case ov popping out the ones not needed and popping them back in if and when they are needed.I might be missing a major point in this not being able to be done but I can't see a problem.Please correct me if I'm wrong and help if I'm on the right track.

Just tie them up and secure them to the top of the case.

Cables are soldered to the psu main board in the housing.
Pin removal tool is only used to pull the pin from the molex cable ends.

sorry I meant as in from the chain I'm not using the molex length and one ov the hard drive ones too I was thinking ov just popping the pins out on the first set ov connectors,comeng from the psu,to me it makes sense is an obvious way ov a nice neat cable job.

I have no idea what you are trying to say.
The pin removal tool doesn't take the pin off of the wire, just allows you to pull the pin out of the plastic molex connector.
if you take the pins out of the molex, you will have bare pins that you will have to tape up.

But if you pop out the 2 end ov chain it will come off in one piece with 2 connectors so leaving,the (or putting back on)the remaining connector?Am i missing something ?or am I coming across a bit dim

Ya, it doesn't work like that. You have to cut the wires if you want to remove the last 2 connectors.

If you look at the cable, 2 wires are joined at the pins on the first 2 connectors, with the last connector only having 1 wire at the pin.

Most psu's have these molex connectors and they are wired like this,

Yep just realised that mate,my plan ov action is just cut all the ones I don't need off ,and use shrink wrap to cover the cable end.I should have mentioned it is for a mini itx the bitfenix prodigy,purely for a media centre, music I'm going to use odd parts I can scrounge or buy cheap,(apart from the case)so the excess cables on my psu Iv'e already got(500W CiT Micro-ATX Quiet Fan 20+4pin ATX 12V with 80mm Temp Control Fan, PSU)are not needed and won't be and if ever are ,they are easy enough to be reattached.

Don't cut anything. Just used cable ties to fold the cables up neatly and out of the way.

why are you mutilating your hardware risking to screw up the PSU? It's all stuff that stays into a closed box (the case). Tie them up and forget.

If you are talking about removing extra connectors daisy chained to a PSU cable (example: you have a SATA power cable that has four connectors on it and you only need one or two), removing a pin so you can snip off the extra wire close to the pin where it won't show, then reinserting the pin into the connector is a doable option. However, removing pins without damaging them, even with the proper tools, isn't always as easy as the videos would have you believe. You could just snip the extra wire flush to the connector and carefully put a drop of liquid tape or RTV on the exposed copper to insulate it. It wouldn't be quite as sanitary looking but you don't have to worry about ruining pins that way.

Removing extra cables is another story. You could cut them off close to the PSU and put a length of heat shrink on the end to insulate them but that would leave an ugly stump by the PSU. You might even be able to open up the power supply and snip the cable close enough to the PCB to not need to worry about insulating the remaining end. Then you wouldn't have the ugly stump. Either way, however, you would never be able to use that cable again. Another way would be to snip the cable off at the first connector and insulate the ends (of course, this wouldn't work on an extra MOBO ATX power cable since it's a long cable with only one connector on the end). Even though it would leave a longer length of cable coming out of the PSU, it would be easier to hide, especially if you bundled the unused cables together to appear as one, massive cable. You could always replace the removed connectors and cable in the future by crimping on new pins.

Keep in mind, replacing those removed connectors and cables will be even harder to replace than removing them, should you ever need them. Any warranty on the PSU will be voided. You also run the risk of ruining your PSU, possibly taking out other components. Of course, ruining a PSU would give you the opportunity to buy a new, modular PSU. You could even make custom cables for it (cautionary note: making custom cables dramatically increases your chances of releasing the built in smoke from a PSU and other components).
