Partition size is 913.8 GB in system restore

I am trying to restore my system to its factory defaults because it has too much useless stuff and it is getting slow. I have a 1TB HD and Home premium. Am i restoring it right? I is 913.8 normal for 1TB HD or is it the opposite and what should I do? I did this once with a laptop and i ended up only being able to use 10 GB in free space!

FWIW, my Western Digital Black 1 terabyte it shows in Speccy as 931 gigabytes.

What i'm asking though is; is the 913 free space, or space that the system will need because if the system is going to use it, i wont have much free space. My question is... if I restore all my factory defaults to basically start over, and the partition size is 9.13GB, is that ok? or will I have hardly any space left after???

1TB = 931.322GB usable space. The 913GB you report looks close enough. Did you format the drive prior to restoring to the factory state?

The 913GB is the free space available.

I haven't done anything yet because I wanted to check first. So you are saying wipe the drive, then "Completely Restore Computer to Factory Defaults" and it should all be normal?

How do you plan to restore:

1. A recovery partition on the hard disk? or
2. Recovery DVD's?

If you restore to factory specs all of your partitions will be deleted and recreated to replicate whatever you had when you opened the factory carton.

As Golden says, the hard drive should have a total of 931 GB. If you have a 913 GB partition, you presumably have some other small partition(s).

Whatever, they will all be gone if you restore. The restoration will re-create them as necessary. You will have whatever amount of free space you had when you opened the carton.

Best thing you can do is post a picture of Windows Disk Management so we can see what is going on rather than rely on words.
