Hello,

This is a continuation of the following thread:

http://www.sevenforums.com/installa...an-i-clean-install-win-7-64bit-my-system.html

I want to do a clean install of the 64 bit W7 OS, but over my current Visa 32.

I have a RAID 0 setup, so I have two questions:

1) Does the Win 7 64 setup deal with the disc reformatting (looks like it does from the posts I've read) and

2) Will it then reconfigure the RAID setup?

Looks like the answers are: 1) yes and 2) no, therefore, is anyone able to describe an easy way of me keeping the RAID set-up? At what point do I install the Device, Controller and Stripe drivers?

Many Thanks

Edd

Back up your important files, insert your Win 7 disc and click install now (Or click the "What you should know" link in the bottom left corner). Select custom install, delete your partition and reformat. Then just follow the instructions.

I have a raid 0 setup and I didn't have to do anything, Win 7 should recognize your drive as raid and install 7 on the freshly formatted drive!

Good luck and post your results!

Agreed, except -

If the RAID is controller based, Windows does not care about, and will not see, a RAID volume. Windows will just see a volume.

Antman - I agree that Windows wont see it as a RAID setup. What I meant was that windows will see the volume and he will not have to worry about reconfiguring his RAID setup, good point:thumbsup:

I am trying to do the same install of Windows 7 Premium upgrade from a Vista 32 bit Home Premium setup. My Raid 0 is 2 WD Velociraptors running on an ASUS P532 SLI (nforce 680i) mobo. The raid controller is on the mobo. When I do the install, I can get to the screen that should show my array, but it only lists my WD USB backup drive and does not see the Raid drives in any way. I have tried to install the nforce drivers at the point the installer asks for them, but it still does not see my drives. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, but raid and windows 7 do not really like each other.
