So I just got Borderlands 2, and I installed it. Before I go on I'd just like to point out that the error I'm posting about happens also in Borderlands 1, CS:GO, Portal 2, and Darkness II.

When I launch the game through steam, I get the standard DirectX installation that everybody usually gets when they start a steam game for the first time. Now for Borderlands 2 i pass that and I get to the window launcher where it says play, settings, exit, and such. Now whenever I hit play my computer instantly freezes and the sound loops. By loop, I mean that the person I'm talking to in Teamspeak will seem to stop talking and through my headphones I hear EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, and I'm forced to hold down my power button, because ctrl + alt + delete, alt+tab, or the windows key don't do anything.

With the other games it's similar to this but it actually shows a black screen. With Borderlands 2 it straight up crashes.

Now, I've tried so... many... things. I've verified the game files, restarted steam, updated all drivers, reinstalled the game, took a dump, and have tried others but AM OPEN TO ANY SUGGESTIONS AT ALL.

My specs are up to date for sure! I can run guild wars 2, killing floor, Trine 2, Garry's Mod, Tf2, CS:Source, SKYRIM, all without any problem.

SPECS:

Nvidia 560GTX
Msi Motherboard x58a-gd45
12 gb of ram
3.2ghz processor

Please please help, if you need any more information I will gladly provide it. Please. Good. God.

(I've attached the zip from SF Diagnostic Tool)

Welcome aboard.

It says that it is caused by RwDrv.sys. Unfortunately I dont have any info on that driver, and google also failed to provide any sound information.

Wherefrom you have got the game? Is the source trustworthy?

I would suggest you to first make it sure that it is not a malware.

Download, install and updats MBAM free. Not boot into safe mode, sann the entire computer with MBAM.

Let us know the result.

Well, I know the games are trustworthy, because I purchased them from steam. Should I still do MBAM?

MBAM will not do any harm at all.

I dont have any information about RwDrv.sys. So I searched it in google. Havent got any useful info, but some places say it might be a malicious one. :sarc:

I am asking for more help ... if anybody knows about it.

I don't have RWEverything, should I delete the rwdrv.sys file? My other friends dont even have it in their /windows/syswow64/drivers folder.

I deleted the rwdrv.sys file and put it on a flash drive, and the problem is still occuring.

I note from the MBAM screenshot that you appear to have installed some 'cheat' addon for Steam - and it's this which is causing MBAM to throw a fit. Many such addons are nothing more than vehicles for malware, so need to be applied with extreme care.

That said, I don't see anything which calls for my speciality (problems with WGA) - the Event logs seems normal - but let's check it anyhow....

Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.

http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/234159-windows-genuine-activation-issue-posting-instructions.html

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

On my case, on the sticker, it says Windows 7 Home Prem.

Also I don't know if I said it before but everytime my computer crashes there's no blue screen, but on certain games there is a black screen and my computer ultimately freezes and the sound loops. I am forced to hard reset my computer via the power button.

Thanks.

As far as I can see, there is no cause for concern - as far as Windows licensing/WGA is concerned.

(I'll now bow out,as I have had rather a large quanitity of etOH :p)
