Hey hi,

This is the first time am posting in this forum. Internet is working fine in my machine in wired modem as well as wireless wi-fi modem. But whenever i try to connect an USB modem data card for internet, it gets installed for mass storage alone and nothing gets installed for internet. And yes, the USB port works GOOD for all pen drives. This problem occurs only when i connect an USB data card and the following error message pops up. It doesnot buzz off till i remove the USB from the machine.

did that modem come with a CD? It should contain drivers to run it. (driver = program that tells Win 7 how to use the device)

Otherwise you have to go to the producer's site and search for drivers for your specific device.

Also you can post the full name of that device (actual device name, not just "usb modem data card") and maybe someone here goes and finds the drivers for you.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
The device name is alcatel and it can support a maximum of 7.2mbps. Actually this device should automatically install all its drivers on the first go as it does with other machines(laptops). Only in my machine it's throwing up the error.
