Unable to connect to internet after laptop power is turned off

My laptop is 1 year old and has worked great until a month ago. I was unable to connect to the internet and thru troubleshooting got a "missing network adapter". I have since upgraded the driver. I also purchased Registry cleaner program that supposedly found over 400 registry errors.

I found by accident that I was able to connect normally if I turned the PC off by holding the power button. Then restarting, I got a message to start windows normally. When I did, and then it connected to the internet normally.

Now, each night if I leave the power connected to the laptop and shut down windows from the Start command it works fine.

I do not want to have to leave the power connected. Can anyone help? Toshiba tech support is unable to help other that suggesting I return the PC to the "out of the box' status which is totally unacceptable to me.

The "Registry Cleaner" you purchased is mostly likely a sales scam which has ruined your Win7. These are Public Enemy #1 of Win7 which will not tolerate the mindless tweaking they do.

If you want to clean your PC use CCleaner Disk and Registry tab which is a genius program recommended by everyone here, while no one here recommends any "Registry Cleaner."

You may still be able to System Restore to a point before you likely ruined Win7 with the scamware. I would try that now. We can then help you troubleshoot your wireless problem without the interference of having run the worst possible software you can run on Win7.

After assuring your wireless driver is updated in Device Manager, rightclick the wireless connection in System Tray to run the troubleshooter. What does it report?

You cannot expect to mess with Win7 the way you apparently do and not need to periodically restore it to factory condition, or even better let us help you achieve the superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 sticking with the Best Practices tools and methods within to get and maintain a perfect install.

First off, this is Windows 7, right?

• I've seen registry cleaner programs say that a brand new installation of Windows had hundreds of errors, so I wouldn't attach too much importance to that.
• Was this redirected to Network and Sharing? If not, let me know and I'll have a go at this problem.
