Hi guys,

Currently I have a HP Pavilion PC but I play more games than anything else, it has an Intel G41 Express Chipset and the graphics quality isn't the best I'm looking for a better card does anyone have any suggestions on what I should buy?

Thanks!

Full model number of your HP would help. Slim case or normal width?

Also what is your budget? Knowing HP depending on what you're looking for in a card will also require a new power supply.

Sorry, the model is s5780t

As for budget I can afford £100-150 but preferably lower as I don't want to be splashing out insane amounts on my salary :o

ATI: Radeon HD 7850, or Radeon HD 6870.
Nvidia: GTX 650 Ti, or GTX 560 Ti.

They're all good upper mid-range cards under £150 (on internet).

Thanks for the suggestions I'll take a look now :)

Will these need a new power supply as mentioned?

most hp's come with a power supply with little to no headroom for other graphics card, you will probably need one with 450 -550watts

220W power supply, so you will need a new one for any of those cards mentioned. There is one small problem though, and that is that that HP is a slimline style case which means only half height/low profile video cards will fit in it.

HP Pavilion Slimline s5780t CTO Desktop PC | HP® Support

That severely limits what you can put in it as far as a video card goes, and it also limits you as to what power supply as a standard size ATX one won't fit.

HP lists the video options for the unit as:

Radeon HD5450 (1 GB)

GeForce 315 (512 MB)

GeForce 315 (1 GB)

Radeon HD 6450 (1 GB)

Radeon HD 6570 (1 GB)

For the 6570, I see (for example):

Newegg.com - Computer Hardware, Video Cards & Video Devices, Desktop Graphics Cards, Low Profile, Low Profile Ready, Radeon HD 6570

I'd pay the extra for the cards with 128 bit memory access (rather than 64).

Oddly enough, Sapphire (www.sapphiretech.com) list a 400W minimum for their 1GB 6570 card. Who to believe?
