Problem with right mouse click in Outlook 2007 and some other things

There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason, or pattern to this happening. It's intermittent and happens on a laptop running Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit with a network account/profile.

In Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, at certain times, the right mouse click does not work. Also when hovering over items that would normally display tooltips kin Outlook, nothing happens - such as a calendar appointment in month view. Another oddity is that when this error occurs, using Alt + Tab to switch between windows stops working. To add to it, when left clicking on the Internet Explorer icon on the taskbar (once browser windows are open), the menu of the open tabs doesn’t display. To get into IE at all (i.e. you’re stuck at this point as you can’t left click to access a tab and can’t Alt+Tab to switch window, so there’s no way to maximise IE) the only work around is has to right click (which randomly works in this instance) and open a new instance of Internet Explorer which in effects opens a new tab and thankfully maximises the IE window.

I have tried a different wireless mouse and also a wired mouse (both MS and Logitech), and in different USB ports, but to no avail. I’ve also tried starting Outlook in safe mode, but the problem persists.

The loss of functionality in Outlook is quite severe, so any help in finding a solution would be much appreciated.

Sorry for the delay in replying further - the corporate IT Helpdesk tried a profile rebuild - but this doesn't appear to have fixed the problem.

The workstation is a Dell. I'd iminage CSS comes with Lenovos?

If it has any bearing, the only real third party software used is Nuance's Dragon Naturally Speaking.
