Hello to y'all :geek:

I figure I'll give this posting a shot tonight and try to stay connected long enough to do so! For the past month or so, I've been experiencing some issues where my internet browsing will either not work at all, work intermittently, work fine then slow down and stop, or stop working after "waking my computer up from a short nap" - say when I go grab a snack or something.

I've tried to take as many screen shots as possible figuring they may come in handy when I eventually got around to trouble shooting the issue. It came up rather suddenly which makes me wonder what happened. The laptop still seems to work so well at other locations but not this one! Here are some of the messages I've seen:

"wireless network configuration doesn't have a valid IP configuration"
"problem with wireless adapter or access point"
"your computer appears to be correctly configured but the... (DNS server) is not responding"
"The default gateway is not available"
"The local area connection adapter is disabled"
"The wireless network connection 2 adapter is disabled"

Of course these were all on different days but the outcome is the same - no internet. Sometimes I'll get the little yellow triangle sign; others it appears to be connected but when pulling up the Network & Sharing Center screen, it will just show the laptop having connected to AT&T but not to the internet. All my drivers claim to be up to date  I'm so lost. Any thoughts?

Generally, at least with Comcast, the tech support for your ISP should be able to provide you with support. Have you contacted them?

Hello Sir George,

I tried contacting AT&T but the only thing they could do was tell me to do an ipconfig /renew and ipconfig /release. She said it may work but I would likely need to do it more than once. Of course this really hasn't helped much. My concern is that other people in the house access the Internet here just fine. Yet I can access the Internet *elsewhere* just fine so I really don't know where the problem lies! Lol

If you are the person who signed the contract with AT&T, you can use a heavy handed approach and explain that if they can't fix the problem, you will change providers.

Next point, can you connect at the same location where other people are successful? In the reverse scenario, can they connect in the location where you are having trouble?

Unfortunately, no, I am not the contract holder and if I were, I might still hesitate because I do not know if the problem is through the provider or my laptop. My friend and her mother who live here too can each access internet in the same areas in which I have trouble. I cannot access it in the areas which they seem to be fine in. Not sure how to test to see where the problem is originating from.

Wireless connections, of any type, are at best tricky when they fail to function properly. Unfortunately, I can't really provide much assistance at this point.

Good luck.
