Solved Re-install of Windows 7 but now no web connection..Acer netbook

Hi,

I have had to install a new hard drive and re-install windows 7 home premium but now there is no internet connection...it seems I have no drivers...I have re-installed windows previously (but not on a new hard drive) and not had this problem before.

I have read through some of the related threads but I no longer have a driver disc...I thought it was incorporated with the installation disc but obviously not,,,I have seen a link in a related thread that leads to a site where driver downloads are available for Acer netbooks etc...but there are so many different drivers it seems very confusing to me.

My Acer is an Aspire One PAV70 D255 2DQkk model,,,can anybody give me some advice on just how to pick the drivers I need please ?...or do I need to download ALL the drivers that relate to the model I have ?

this is the link to the driver site...

Hope somebody may be able to help,

Thanks,

edit to add....I won`t be here for a while and will look in later.

Go to Download
Enter AOD255 in the model name box
click seArch. wait for a while.
It will ask you for your Windows version.
Download Drivers.

I have been to the site and now located the relevant page with driver downloads...but I need to download these on a different computer...do I just download the files I need and then burn them to a disc and from there upload into the netbook ?

I don`t find this easy to understand...where do I unzip the files as there is no method to do so in the computer I need to download them onto ?...or will the netbook recognise this and unzip when necessary ?

You have to download an unzipping software like winrar (or you can directly unzip these files using windows unzipping utility). Then there would be a setup.exe in each unzipped folder. Run that file.

Hi...well my netbook is now up and running etc so I have to say a huge thanks to you for your help...alas I have only an ethernet round of applause to offer...which actually brings me to another question...I have internet access but have seen on the devices menu that I have no ethernet driver...yet I have internet access...I am confused here and would be thankful if somebody would explain the difference between and internet driver and an ethernet driver please ?

I am hoping I have uploaded this correctly...I have to say that I am connected to the internet ok but it seems a little slow...although this has been since the new install was updated and configured automatically.
I have tried this with both PNG and JPEG but they both seem very small...I hope you can see it.

It looks like you have the correct driver installed for the ethernet adapter the Atheros AR8152 PCI-E Fast ethernet controller(NDIS 6.20).

Are you looking for wireless connectivity instead?

Firstly...thanks for taking the time to look at this...I have wireless at the moment...it all seems fine...it was just that I saw a message that came up that I did not have ethernet driver...perhaps it was installed when it auto updated.

If you are not now receiving the message then the ethernet driver should be correct is this now the case?

Thanks for the links...i will definitely be checking them out...I now have had an idea that the last time I had movie maker on this netbook,I needed to install silverlight and then I could use it...I have no idea why...i have now uninstalled the live essentials 2012 and attempting to install movie maker that is with essentials 2011...will have to see how that goes.

I have had some serious crashes on this netbook...it has only been set up since yesterday so something is amiss...one of the crashes came along with a screen message in red...it is working at the moment but I have no idea of what to check or look for...before repairing this netbook I was going to just go and buy a new laptop and be done with all the hassle etc...as it is,I have spent a lot of time and a small bit of cash getting this sorted, from a new screen to hard drive...my Son dropped this about a year ago and it lay dormant for some time until I thought it would be a good way to
get online,ie cheaply !...maybe the time has come to abandon this and just be done with it...it is very frustrating waiting for stuff to load and work and I spend more time sorting the thing out !!!... however,I digress !

thanks again for the info links....

Glad the links will be useful to you.

If you could post a screenshot of the error message we may be able to help, it maybe better to create a new thread for this issue as it seems a little different from the one you have had giving all relevant details.

Thanks for the offer but I had to just press the off switch at the time and I have looked in the archived error folder and it is not there...probably because I needed to turn off...it was the only thing I could do as the whole screen was in red text and a loud buzzing was going on...it said something about if this was the first time it had happened etc but because of the buzzing and as it seemed to be frozen and not going anywhere I just pressed on the off button...it hasn`t happened since.
