How to get rid of message

After installing the latest updates for Windows 7, I now get a message that periodically comes ON near the System Tray saying "Additional Login Information may be required, Click to open browser". How do I get rid of this message and what is it for?

i used this method from mijcar


This involves a change in a registry key. Don't do this if you are not familiar with such changes. Always backup your registry first.

Open regedit and navigate as follows:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet

Double-click on EnableActiveProbing

Change value to 0.

Getting the same issue here too, just updated my Macbook (running Windows 7).

The pop-up notifying me that I may have to provide additional logon information, is coming up about once every minute. Suffice to say, this gets annoying.

Going to try the regfix. Meanwhile, I hope Micareo-soft fixes this bug.

if you are using opendns please read this fix i done the reg fix but have put it back to correct setting value 1 and fixed pop up using opendns fix

Sorry to hear that you're having issues. I just read through both forum posts, and while somebody did post a registry fix in the Seven Forums thread, I'm wondering if a setting in your OpenDNS account is causing the issue. So far, it's sounding like this problem may be caused by the NXDOMAIN redirection setting being enabled for your network.

In order to resolve this, please log into the Dashboard and select Settings. After that, select your network, and then choose "Customization" in the left-hand menu. You will be brought to a page that you will allow you to toggle the "Enabled NX Domain Redirection" option. Please disable that option.

After that, flush your DNS resolver cache and web browser cache on each device to ensure that your new DNS configuration settings take effect immediately.

Hi brianzion, I was indeed using OpenDNS!

I don't really need to be using it now though, so I'm going to reset the registry value back to 1 (- it did help, just so that's said).

i thought the opendns fix worked but i was wrong so i have gone back to the reg key value of 0 for now. if its a opendns issue im sure they will fix it
