What Programs/Configurations Are Well Known To Cause BSODs?

I was just wondering which programs are most likely or well known to cause BSODs?

I know Daemon Tools and McAfee are meant to be famous examples, I wanted to know as I'm really enjoying BSOD analysis, and also have an OP who has a few BSODs related to virus scanners (from BSOD Index usual causes) and would like to be able to help them further :)

Thanks for any suggestions!

I have seen almost all internet securities and other antiviruses except MSE causing BSOD-s. Probably the latest version of that particular antivirus may run stable but I'm not sure because I never paid for antivirus. Me and my brother used AVG before but since 2008 when I was learning more about computers I permanently switched to MSE.

Registry cleaning, de-fragment, driver update software can also be a cause. (defragment programs at a rare case) but surely would cause problems if the drivers are not well suited with the system.

Any virtual drive emulator if set to startup is subject to cause BSODs, as far as I have seen.

USB hubs, those are very frequent causes of crashes, if the environment is not set up properly.

Thanks for the suggestions! :D it's very appreciated!

I save this thread and use it as form of reference (:

The OP is manually updating their drivers (their own suggestion), when they upgraded to Windows 8, think it may have updated their drivers automatically. I've got them to remove AVG and Daemon Tools, and running some hard-drive checks.

Thanks again!
