I have gone through several of the optimization steps to get peak performance but this is the best im getting on AS SSD(see screenshot).
Steps:
1. Enable AHCI vs IDE(couldnt boot on AHCI had to default to IDE)
2. Enable Trim
3. Disabled System Restore
4. Disabled Indexing
5. Disabled Defragmentation
6. Removed Page File
7. Disabled Hibernation
8. Disabled Prefetch and Superfetch
9. Disabled Write Caching(slight improvement in benchmarking with it disabled)
10. Disabled Services for Windows Search and Superfetch
11. Disabled Clear Page File at Shutdown and Large System Cache
12. Set High Performance Setting in Power Options
The only problem I had was in the first step.

I reran the tests from Windows 7 64 bit (I have a dual boot Win 7/Win 8 with separate SSD drives - the OCZ for Win 8 and an Intel for Win 7). My Win 7 installation is stock except for that I have it set for High Performance Power Settings as I use this system for my recording studio.

Also, make sure you are running the best firmware for your drive. I believe the Vertex series can greatly benefit from optimized firmware. Maybe some other Vertex owners will chime in on the subject.

followed the tutorial, but when I have it enabled in bios my computer will crash before I hit the log in screen. Sometimes I pass the windows logo and then it crashes, other times it crashes during the formation of the windows logo.

Ive done some more messing around in the Bios trying to get the AHCI working. I have 2 other drives which are HDD. the way the mobo has it set up all 1-4 of my sata ports can be set to AHCI or IDE but not individually. I do have 2 more sata ports which are 5-6 that can be set to either as well, but to have AHCI on those 2 i have to have the first 4 set to AHCI as well.
