Hey guys, i was looking through CPU-Z and noticed my 8800GT running @ x8, so i thought id look into it, the bios also says it is x8. i then tried a quadro FX 1700 which comes up as x16 in bios.

You don't need to concern yourself. Video card barely use the full bandwidth of PCI Express 8x slots.

the bios in the first image seems to be set at "auto" and displays options for the integrated graphics (IGD = Integrated Graphics Device). I think that means it prefers using integrated graphics when you plug the 8800GT.
Set it at "ext PCIE graphics" for the 880GT and see if it works better.

Was running Win Xp from a IDE drive. Yeah. Was a pain.

When set to "Ext PCIE Graphics", still comes up with the DVMT (Intergrated graphics) settings & card is still @ x8. perhaps card is faulty since the quadro is x16?

As others said, that card won't fill x8 bandwith even at 100% workload, so that is probably irrelevant.

See if it runs games better. I can play Warcraft 3 on a friggin netbook's integrated GMA 3150 (or my rig with a geforce 6200) so if it's choppy on that card then it is probably faulty.
