SSD/HDD related problems, making HDD primary after Win7 install.

(Long story below, feel free to scroll to the bottom paragraph just to see what the problems are I am trying to fix).

I've been trying to get help on this issue all day and I am at the point in being lost that I am close to just finding out how to wipe the drives clean entirely and not use my SSD for my boot drive. So heres my issue.

Yesterday I built a new computer. It has a M4 Crucial 128GB SSD and accompanying it is a Seagate 1TB HDD. My plan was to make my SSD the boot drive (which was easy enough) and then use the HDD for mass amounts of storage and just put a few of my most used programs/applications on the SSD to improve the speed of them. Well turns out that it wasn't that easy because I didn't think before hand to make changes or anything and all of the things I have been downloading/putting on the new PC have been saving on the SSD, a few things that were selectable for installation I manually put into the HDD (another problem with that coming up.)

Essentially when trying to delete a few files from the HDD I didn't need, I was told I wasn't able to due to not being the owner of the file (the folder is owned by SYSTEM) and all of the google-able solutions I tried didn't work such as changing permissions and setting my user account as owner.

So essentially I am REALLY hoping, for the sake of my sanity and frustration level with building a new pc cry that you guys can help me figure out why it won't delete these folders (nothing in the folders themselves are being used) and help me setup my HDD to be my primary drive where files/programs/folders save and being able to transfer files from my SSD over to my HDD. I am new to the whole SSD thing and already am regretting it despite how amazing its performance is.

Edit: Also just to give you a bit more information, I am using a Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit disk (OEM) to install windows.

After you save something to the ssd, say in downloads, if you want to keep it just copy it to the HD then delete it from the ssd, there should be no problem. And install ALL your programs on the ssd.

Firstly I'd like to say I appreciate the reletively quick reply, I know a lot of people are asleep but between here and another techsupport fourm I went to earlier today your the only person to acknowledge my post so thank you very much.

I guess the thing with that is that all of my User, Program Files, Program Files (x86) folders get a bit big after a while and take up a lot of storage on the SSD and I was hoping to keep it as minimal as possible in order to keep an idea of just how much memory I had on that drive for things I might want to keep on it. Then also comes the issue with what my hard drive did to a couple of folders where the SYSTEM is owner and I cant get it to give me ownership and delete that file.

Edit: And there are also issues like my Webcam software for instance. I copied it from my SSD to move it to my HDD, now its not working. When I click to launch it it says Windows cannot find "C:/Program Files" and continues on with the file destination.

after Windows 7 install (recommended before other software install) to change user folders like vodeos, music, documetns, etc.

and with software. in most cases you can not just copy folder and files and get software to work, because when installed software remembers its location in register etc.

but most installers lets you choose location where to intall during installation procedure check options when installing.

Uninstall and then reinstall programs when changing their program file location. Install all that will fit on C, certainly all you use the most, then if you run out of space after all data is moved to HD, uninstall and reinstall the program to the HD.

Keep the temp files cleaned out using CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download Disk and Registry cleaner.

YOu can save space on SSD by trimming the paging file to 2gb: Change Virtual Memory Paging File and turning off the Hibernate file if you dont use this modern perfected feature in Win7: Hibernate - Enable or Disable - Windows 7 Forums

You cannot move System files to another drive without trouble. This is the problem we've found with moving the User folders, so what we now recommend is to copy them to the HD, then rightclick each to add to the related Library - Include a Folder - Windows 7 Forums. Then delete the content in the C User folder, but keep it in the library so you can see if anything lands there and drag it over to D.
