On my c drive under the folder
C:\Documents and Settings\raymc,everything under that is being duplicated on a separate hard drive under E:\Documents and Settings\raymc.
If I add or delete a folder or file anywhere below C:\Documents and Settings\raymc, it will add or delete that same file or folder in E:\Documents and Settings\raymc, in the same place. Or if I change anything under E:\Documents and Settings\raymc it changes it in C:\Documents and Settings\raymc

It works good for instant back up to another drive but I have no idea how this happened. It's like the folder raymc on C and E are mirrored. So anytime I add something to my pictures or my documents or desktop its being copied to both C and E drive at the same time because those folders are under the folder raymc my user account folder/Could anyone explain to me how this is set up?

Nebe, welcome to the windows 7 forum.

The possibility is that one of your folders is really a shortcut to the original folder.
by right clicking on the second folder, look at the properties.

You shouldn't even be having access to C:\Documents and Settings! It is just a junction that points to C:\Users. The same with the one on E:\ is a junction that is pointing to C:\Users

The fact that you can access Documents and Settings is a bad sign.

Documents and Settings on E drive was a short cut to raymc on C drive, I was looking for a short cut arrow or thought that the properties would say it was a short cut but didn't. Just realized it was empty and deleted it and all is well. So thank you.... now I feel silly

I went to the links you have thanks very much. I did a new install on a new hard drive and put the old one back in, E drive without reformatting. it was my C boot drive before so all the the windows system files were still on it. I didn't realize the junctions on E would still point to C Drive Users. Again thanks for those links.
