Hello. I have a question.

How does one send a text message or e-mail *FROM* a Verizon cell phone or smartphone *TO* a PC's e-mail server (such as G-Mail or Hotmail)? I have seen many online articles and forums indicate the reverse; that is, FROM a PC e-mail client or online webmail TO a Verizon cell phone. (...and the Verizon cell phone or smartphone user *REPLIES BACK* TO the PC user; but the Verizon cell phone or smartphone can NOT initiate a text message or e-mail ON THEIR OWN TO the PC.)

Please reply with solutions or even if possible a stepped answer (1., 2., 3., etc.). A weblink that demonstrates the steps is okay too, but please be careful not to include the inverse or reverse I just mentioned -- that is all I could find.

Also in your response please let me know if some sort of cell phone or smartphone Internet service is required for text messages or e-mails to send and receive too beyond the normal voice service cell phones or smartphones provide.

Thank you!

@ A Guy:

Hello! Nice to meet you! Thanks for your help. I see your second weblink is a good resource to my issue, but I have done some homework since and I will share with you...

First of all I need to let you know that this mobile phone I make note of is not for me, but for my dad who is not tech savvy. He has used computers with online services, but he fears computers in that to own one of this own. He will not admit it openly, but tell me not to get too techy with him. We all know someone like that out there.

When one would look at his mobile device, you would be easily convinced at first glance that he has a cell phone with a QWERTY keyboard inside; and one would "assume" he can e-mail me. But he does not have a smartphone phone. Yes, most if not all smartphones come with a data plan with their mobile phone service as NATURALLY REQUIRED by the Verizon service plans for their smartphones. However, this assumption that all cell phones ARE REQUIRED to have data plan is NOT true. He has the Verizon LG Octane - a 2010 mobile phone. He uses it for voice (talk) and texting service with other cell or smartphones. It does have some "built-in" applications and some that need Internet based. He tells me that he did not opt for Internet for this particular mobile device since he did not select it as part of his plan. Okay, so since I posted this, he told me this. Therefore that explains it -- NO INTERNET = NO E-MAILING *FROM* HIS mobile phone.

Therefore, he still can text... ...but ONLY to other mobile devices that have a phone number. He cannot e-mail text, but plain text -- there is a difference! I see he has restrictions in his "To:" field on what he can input. He cannot input characters such as the "@" symbol and letters to spell out a typical e-mail address. ...and again, understand that he DOES NEED to purchase a data plan for mobile Internet which he has not. Therefore, he cannot send an e-mail without a data plan for mobile Internet. So without a data plan, he is very limited and unable to e-mail to my PC with an exception I will share with you in a minute. Just text between most mobile devices that have phone numbers strictly. So again, he can text, but not e-mail. Yet, if I e-mail him FIRST, he had the ability to "REPLY BACK" to me e-mail since he has my e-mail information already part of his inbox messages.

Answer: No solution unless he opts for the mobile Internet service.
