How can i move files (Including Windows) Onto a New HDD From a old one

Hello, I'm CrazyKilla

I recently bought a new 2TB HDD, i have an old HDD which is very old and slow and has 150Gb Storage, this is where i keep my windows in (Program Files, Windows, System32 and stuff), How do i simply Move or Copy all of the things from Old (C: ) to New (X: ), I've tried doing 'Move' With Acronis Disk Director but when it says select an unallocated partition it doesn't let me select the new partition i made for it (400GBs cut away from my new 2TB HDD) same goes for 'Copy' with Acronis,

Yes i know you can't simply drag and drop or copy and paste windows and all this stuff into a new HDD, im not stupid

Help Please!

Don't do drag/drop or other stupid things.

You have 2 physical discs attached to system now (new and old)? Post screenshot of diskmanagment please

Tell me what's on each partition

New 2 TB is totally empty? No important files at all? If so... delete all partitions on it using disk management. Just right click on parition and select "delete".

How many partition are on old disk (see disk management) and what are their purposes?

In C: is my Windows and files that i want to move

X: and Z: is my 2TB HDD, i used acronis to cut away 400GB from X: and make Z:, now i want to put everything in C: into Z:

D: and E: Is just a random HDD that i don't need at the moment

Post screenshot of disk management with all disks visible
Right click on computer->manage. there you find disk management

X and D are ACTIVE without purpose. So mark them inactive
Open http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/783-elevated-command-prompt.html
then do:

Code:

diskpart
select   vol  D
inactive
select  vol  X
inactive
exit

X has files on it.... you want to keep them?

Z is empty delete it please

list part (it gives you 2 partitions ...correct?)

You can keep X if you want... you decide it. There are files on X.. Maybe you want to keep them?
I just want you to delete Z. But Z is in green border in disk management...so it's a logical partition en extended partition. Give me diskpart output

I learned a long time ago when I almost lost EVERYTHING to a raid failure to have your OS on a separate drive than the important stuff. If some failure does happen then nothing lost but windows OS. I have a 8 year old 160 gig drive thats my C drive and its still going strong and if it fails...owell I got all my other stuff on other drives and external drives. Its a little peace of mind for that fateful day you do have a failure and loose everything cause you put all your eggs into one drive.

We need it further in the process. But first make X and D inactive (not recessary but totally useless)
Also delete Z. And post diskpart output

Just right click on Z in disk manager and click delete.

Afterwards do diskpart commands do diskpart commands I told you

I would have done this:

Move the data from X to Z ( and verify )
Made a disk image ( with windows imaging ) and put on Z
Unplugged all drives accept for the X/Z drive
Then reimage windows back to X

That way all the windows files are on the left side of disk management ( and the hard drive ) as they should be.
And all your data will now be on the Z partition ( as it should be )

When your done, the windows partition will be C and your data partition will be D ( as it should be )

Id rather keep data on X and windows on Z as i think windows and program files dont take up 1.2 tb :/

No they don`t, you can always break it up into more partitions later.

Windows is supposed to be on the left and your data to the right, but you do it however you want.
