Front panel Realtek HD stopped working

Hello, i am exhausted from finding a solution to my "problem". On a sunny day....

my front HD soundcard stopped working properly , only working in AC97 mode.

Now I was faced with another even bigger problem ... the microphone crashed in this mode aswell...I Checked the back panel, and it continues to function properly, the front one, from night to day stopped working in HD, starting to run only the sound output in AC97 mode. Extremely annoying not get to know the origin of this problem, having already reinstalled drivesr aswell installed a more recent, and still have the same problem.
Being connected does not recognize ... it is recognized if it touches the jack... ... I know .. WTF? Thats what i thought ... because if I insert the connector a bit to make contact, he starts working ... or if i change HD audio to AC97 Audio also plays ... NORMALLY connected with him ... but do not have the same quality as before Solutions? Help?

Oh and by the way, also appears me a line on the back panel of the subwoofer on when ... when i dont even have one

Hello and welcome Spy76 I am assuming you mean the front panel is connected to the board via the internal ports so have you updated the Realtek from the Asus site or the Realtek site or tried both?

Both sir. The one i show is the recent one. And the asus one is way older. I have the cds from the board and its the same

May sound rather obvious but is the lead for the front panel plugged in using the HD plug and not the AC97 one? Am just asking in case you have dome any work inside the computer just lately and may have go them the wrong way round.

No. It was all of sudden. I plugged then off to plug some other ones. When i plugged them back they stopped working at hd

Hum am now wondering if you might have bent some pins in the board socket just have thorough check - and also that small "sockets" (tiny slip over metallic contacts) in the plug have not pushed outwards they can sometimes be dislodged very easily.

You can of course test for continuity from the plug to the front panel with a multimeter but it will be fiddly to do.

If it works fine in ac97?

Yes Spy sorry mate I should have been a little more explicit. The pin arrangements are different for AC97 and HD as you can see in this snip I took in another forum.

This may not be the config of your board (but probably is) but you will get my drift as to the small metal "insert" in the plug being dislodged and therefore not making contact.

The only thing I don't know is how the pins are numbered for your board socket but again probably the same is the pic as most boards I think are probably as standardised to that config of pins.

Some new boards may have this socket along the side where the USB sockets are

I did not touch anything inside the board, this just happened from one moment to another, if i let the plug touch a lil bit the jack, it will play, but if i fully insert it, it wont. in AC97 mode i have not this problem, i can fully insert the jach in the plug and it will work.. Everything seems normal inside.

And all of sudden i got a plugged subwoofer, when i dont even one. it shows on the image, the orange jack. So weird. geexz.

Smacks of a loose pin in the board Spy - sometimes caused a by "dry joint" - one the solder has become unsoldered from the printed circuit on the board - or the pin pushes down still attached to the circuit strip and will not fully engage in the HD plug.

If you can just very gently and with a non conducting probe try the pins in the socket to see it one of them moves down. It not necessarily be the "live" one but the ground pin that services it.

If they are all fairly solid to the touch then it may be worth having another look at the HD plug but I ma thinking the board socket pins.
