Hi all

Just trying to save you some work

I was messing around with vmware ESXi again on another machine - now this is quite fussy on what it installs on so I had to change the BIOS option for my SATA disks from IDE to AHCI.

esxi installed fine and I could test on that machine.

On restoring I forgot to change the Bios back again so of course it barely started the boot process before failing.

I though OK I don't want to re-set the disks back to IDE (legacy) so I tried to boot with repair option.

W7 could not repair this -- you need to RE-INSTALL again if you change the IDE option in the BIOS.

(Re-install via upgrade is fine however so it wasn't too painful an ********).

Mods what's wrong with this forum "bad language" control

unless my English is horrible what's wrong with the word E X E R C I S E - maybe too painful for a lot of people to do. There's a similar word related to devil cults etc but THIS word definitely isn't it.

Anyway the point of this post is hopefully to save you guys time if you make the same mistake I did.

Cheers
jimbo
