Wireless conection error

Well, i also have the Win7. I can connect with Ethernet without any problems. When i atepmt to connect using the wireless Belkin desktop card. i get this problem found by the Windows Network Diagnostics...(Wireless Network Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration) marked as 'not fixed'

So i contacted my ISP and once i told them i was running Win7, they no longer wanted to help me. (Frontier)

I have 3 PCs, 2 with Win7 and one with Vista.

1**My gaming PC(Win7) is connected via Ethernet and connection is fine.

2**My HP laptop (Win Vista) is connected via wireless, and is working fine.

3**My newest PC(Win7) was connected with Ethernet, but we cant deal with the wire hanging off the loft, so i got the Belikin wireless card. It installed fine, and sees my home wireless network, the password is correct, as well as the encryption, and security type.

But when trying to connect, i get a "Connecting to the network is tanking longer than usual" followed by a "the connection was unsuccessful"

I run the troubleshooter, and first it tells me to reset my router, which i have dine, and it doesnt help, so i go on to diagnose additional problems, and that is when i get the most important problem.....(Wireless Network Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration) marked as 'not fixed

I read a post by Esparko in this forum, with a very similar problem that was solved by SquonkSC.....
Can anyone tell me what is wrong, and how i can fix this plz?

I had the same problem. The wireless would actually show as "connected" but I didn't get an IP address from the DHCP server in my (USRobotics) router. Looking in the router, it's dhcp table showed that it had assigned one, therefore it seemed likely that some security program was blocking it in Win7. I tried disabling my Symantec Endpoint Security to see if that was it and it was not. I noticed the icon for the wireless was a "park bench", which means it's an untrusted public AP to Win7. I created a homegroup network around my router and the icon changed to a house and it will now connect.

This seems finicky and tricky for the average sales guy or whatever who just wants to connect to wireless.

I'd be interested in someone more experience than I with Windows 7 to provide a bullet list "how to". Just concise steps that any laptop user could follow.
