NAS reacts not immediately on WOL

Hi there,

I'm using the "WOL Magic Packet Sender" software to "remote" start my NAS. Now since the last days I'm really wondering as the NAS is only reacting on the second or third time of pushing the "Send" button! What could be the reason for that?

Kind regards

Hello, I saw this review of your app.
So to wake up the computer using WOL Magic Packet Sender you should: 1. Run the program. 2. Specify the hostname or IP address. 3. Specify the subnet mask. 4. Type MAC address of the computer to be waked up (Protocol and Port are default settings) 5. Wait for some time the computer starts and you will have access to it. To wake computers from other subnets, the MAC address and the subnet for each computer is required. This program works with Windows XP, Vista, 2003, 2000, ME, 98 and requires .Net Framework 2.0. ]

A short delay maybe natural? If recent problem after running better before then I would look at scanning for Malware. Good luck to you with this problem.

For some devices this is just the way they are. The best thing you can do is create a batch file or similar to send the WOL packet four or five times with a couple of seconds delay in between.

If it turns on with the first packet, the next packets won't harm anything but sending the command several times should ensure that your NAS gets turned on!
