I would like to purchase the Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade, but what I would like to know is if I can install it more than one time? I am concerned that my laptop may crash and then I will be out $219.00 if I need to buy a new laptop. I know I can simply buy a new laptop with Windows 7, but I would imagine that would also cost more than $219.00. I only plan on installing it on the machine I currently have, but I do have an older laptop with XP on it which will take the upgrade as well in the event of a hardware failure.

Thank you.

You can reinstall the upgrade version as necessary and it can do clean installs too.

If you buy the retail version, you can transfer it to another machine in the future if you have need. You can simply just have it on one machine at a time.

If you buy the OEM version, it gets tied to the original machine on which its activated and can't be moved to another should need arise.

Do keep in mind that it's pretty unlikely you'll need/use the additional features of Ultimate though.

So which is right for me?

I have a Sony Vaio with Vista Business on it now. I actually LIKE Vista, and I have it working quite smoothly.

I have Vista Business on my laptop too ... I love it, absolutely no problems! I have Win7 Ultimate (RTM) on my desktop. They work well together, as far as sharing. :geek:
I also have XP home on another desktop, and it works with the other two.
