Is your card a 9800GX2 or a 9800GTX+

If it is a 9800GTX+ then actually I believe what you really need is:

Two 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors -or- One 6-pin PCI Express and two 4-pin Molex supplementary power connectors.

Heres a 9800gtx+ card at tigerdirect: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3738445&Sku=E145-9802

If it is a 9800GX2 then you will need 1 8-pin

Here's a 6 pin to 8 pin adapter: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...re=8_pin_power_adapter-_-12-200-420-_-Product

On some cards you actually need an 8 pin. My PSU has a 6 pin and a 6+2 Pin. I did some goggling in the UK and couldn't find anything except for an 4pin molex to an 8pin EPS but I don't think it will work since it is meant for the Motherboard. And if you compare the 2 pics side by side you'll see the EPS doesn't have 2 12V pins just 2 wires into 1 pin connection point. Your probably going to have to replace your PUS 4-Pin Molex to 8-Pin EPS-12V Adapter/Converter Cable: XPC-AD4/8.
As for the card it is like having 2 9800g's so yes it is a very good card but as you have found out it requires a lot of power. My OCZ Gamexstream 700w has the connector even though they don't state it in the specs. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341034

If it is a 9800GTX+ then actually I believe what you really need is:

Two 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors -or- One 6-pin PCI Express and two 4-pin Molex supplementary power connectors.

Heres a 9800gtx+ card at tigerdirect: EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX+ Video Card - 512MB GDDR3, PCI Express 2.0, SLI Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV at TigerDirect.com

If it is a 9800GX2 then you will need 1 8-pin

Here's a 6 pin to 8 pin adapter: Newegg.com - StarTech PCIEX68ADAP PCI Express 6 pin to 8 pin Power Adapter Cable - Adapters & Gender Changers
its the 9800gtx2 unless i have it wrong, i know that i need a 8 pin.... cool thanks for the links the second one is what i need thanks

On some of the newer cards you actually need a 8 pin black GPU cable. On my Evga GTX260 superclocked I needed 1-6 pin and 1-8 pin which my PSU had a 6 pin and a 6+2Pin. I did some goggling in the UK and couldn't find anything except for an 4pin molex to an 8pin ESP but I don't think it will work since it is meant for the Motherboard. As for the card it is like having 2 9800gtx's so yes it is a very good card but as you have found out it requires a lot of power. Basicaly running SLI form 1 PCI-e slot. My OCZ Gamexstream has the connector even though they don't state it in the specs. Newegg.com - Recertified: OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI-B 700W ATX12V v2.2 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready Active PFC Power Supply

ah ok thanks mate.... I have a SHAW 860Watt power supply :)

My 9800GX2 just died last week. I've been using it for a year. My system starts crashing 5 minutes after logging in, and the graphics look horrible. There's blue specks of whatever I don't know everywhere, and it persisted even after restarting and such.

Luckily, it ain't just me who had the same problems. My retailer replaced mine with GTX275 today for free.

I would really recommend another video card, unless you'll be wanting to replace it soon.
