On vista my areo works fine and my resolution (1920 by 1080) gets detected. But on windows 7 areo wont work and the resolution wont reach to 1920 by 1080. Even in the display settings. I updated the drivers and it detects the card.

Is there any drivers for the X800 Ati Radeon?

OK so i install the driver using vista compatibility mode, then when i restart, windows 7 wont even load, it gives a blue screen error then restarts the computer. So then i reinstall 7, without the compatibility mode and the same thing happens. So now im not sure what to do. ( i reinstalled 7 )

What screen are you using? Assuming LCD (given the resolution/aspect), what cable are you using to connect to your graphics card? VGA or DVI?

Try using the DVI input and see what you get. Not knowing who made your graphics card, I cannot remember if my X800 had a DVI port, but I think it did.

If your monitor didn't come with a DVI cable you can either buy a cable (recommended, since your monitor supports it) or buy an adapter that will enable you to plug your VGA cable into the DVI port of the card.

Best Buy has these, though you could find these at just about any electronic's/computer shop:

Why do i have to buy cable in order to use windows 7? I don't think it will fix the problem. I used the cable that came with the monitor, and fitted the monitor and my graphics card. Windows vista worked perfectly, but i really wanna use 7... And Im not sure if its vga im gonna have to check =/, but i dont see why it would not work with 7....

Well you don't have to buy the cable. I'm sure they will fix it when the beta is over, before it ships. However, there is something wrong with the way Windows 7 currently sees EDID Monitor information sent over a VGA cable. I had the same exact problem you're having (with a different resolution) and switching to the DVI input is what fixed it.

Also, if you still have your monitor's box, check to see if it has the DVI cable in it. Some monitors come with these cables, if not it might also come with the adapter I also mentioned.

FYI, this is what a typical VGA connector looks like:
vga2.JPG

And this is what a typical DVI connector looks like (although some might not have pins running all the way across):
dvi-hdtv-connector.jpg

As far as I am aware there is no software fix for this yet, you can try new drivers (I think Vista's Catalyst driver is 9.1 now) but I think this will be your best bet. Your monitor supports DVI, and as far as I'm aware so does your card. DVI is superior to VGA, especially for LCDs.

OK so i used the new Dvi cable that i found in the monitors box. I then reinstalled windows 7. It still had the areo and resolution problem. So then i installed the 9.1 drivers. Then restarted and when the boot logo ends my computer just shuts down and restarts 0.0, the same problem occurs even with the new cable =/ and only with windows 7.

I was hoping for this to work :(

Here are a few more things you could try to fix your issue;
Go to your motherboard manufacturer's website. Download and install any recent BIOS update.
Instead of using the 9.1 driver, use a much less recent one like 8.12
Finally, a hassle free and convenient way of manipulating display properties is to use Power Strip by EnTech which can be downloaded from here.

Note: Please read the site FAQs/Help before attempting to play around with your resolution. Use only the resolution that you think is right for your display. Improper use or forcing your hardware to exceed it's max rated performance might permanently damage your hardware.

Did you try 9.1 not using compatibility mode? It shouldn't need vista compatibility mode. (it didn't for me)

Instead of reinstalling 7, try booting into safe made and use a restore point in future.

Have you tried removing the failed cat drivers in safe mode and then rebooting to let 7 install it's own drivers to let you 'start from scratch'?
(get a working desktop again)

Out of curiosity and part of isolating the problem, what type of video cable are you using and monitor model?

As reported by many users, changing cable type resolves some video issues and it's also very useful to know the native resolution of your monitor for this case of yours.

The monitor and cables were already discussed, I think windows7 is not supporting my card =/........ And windows vista does.

The main problem is Windows 7 is not supporting my card and windows vista is, therefore they lose customers...Unless they do a driver update =)
