No Aero Support on ATI mobility radeon 9800

I just Installed windows 7 ultimate, but cannot use the Aero Effects because my graphics card is a ATI Mobility Radeon 9800. I need a driver that can let me enable the aero effects. I believe it needs to have the WDDM or something like that. My graaphics card has no updated drivers like that so i think that i need a modded driver. Someone please help me. I want the Aero Effects.

Well, it should be able to. I used to have 9800 AIW Pro which is a desktop model and it had Aero.

Let me check on things and see if I can advise a possible solution. I'll probably need the hardware id of the graphics adapter. Right click on it in device manager, properties, details tab, change dropdown to hardware ids. Copy and paste what is there.

Also, I'm unable to locate your exact model on Dell's website. Are you sure it's correct in your specs?

So i Installed the file that you told me to with the modded drivers and stuff. I ran setup and everything went good, but i dont think that it updated my driver because I still get no Aero support and when I check my driver details in the control manager it shows that im still running the same old display driver as before. Where is this .inf file that your talking about? I cant find exactly where its located.

Nope. It didn't install your driver because you have to follow my method.

I don't have the driver available here. What you could do to find the .inf is go to the folder you extracted. In the top right of Windows Explorer, there's a search box.

Put *.inf in it. It will find it/them for you. Usually you want nv_disp.inf

Then you know where it is when you have to install by device manager, using instructions I previously gave.

When I choose the CL file, my Mobility Radeon 9800 doesnt show up in the list of graphic cards. Should I just choose another card?

The link I posted says your model is in there. Try CW_77071.inf. I can't see that page being wrong.

If no good,

Look through the .infs with notepad. See if you can find "ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9800" = ati2mtag_M18, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4A4E

Use the one you find it in. If only in the CL one, add this to the line at the end and save.

&SUBSYS_51061028

So it should be this ---> "ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9800" = ati2mtag_M18, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4A4E&SUBSYS_51061028

Ok, when I looked through the CL file with notepad I found the ati mobility radeon 9800 graphics card. It wasnt in the CW_ just in the CL_ one. So i added the &subsys_51061028 like you said as you can see in the image posted here. But my graphics card still isnt showing up in the menu where it says to choose my graphics card. Do I need to add "ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9800" = ati2mtag_M18, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4A4E&SUBSYS_51061028 to the CW_ file as well?

Choose one closest to yours. They all use same driver anyhow. It will be named wrong in device manager, but who cares about that?
