Windows 7 Ultimate - in a domain:

I'm not able to logon to my machine using our Admin account. I just get the usual error that the account isn't valid. Is there something I need to change locally or in Active Directory?

Checking around Google, this seems to be the way to log on:

Username: DomainName\UserName
Password: Password

Thanks for the reply, but that's what I tried. I'm able to access all network drives and I'm not seeing any other strange behavior, other than not being able to login locally with the Admin account.

You won't be able to log in locally unless you have a local user set up with same name/password. If your account on the domain is admin and you have no user admin on the local machine then obviously you can not log in locally to the computer itself. Correct me if I am wrong but it did let you log into the domain right? As it let you have access to the network.

The way to logon locally to a w7 machine that is part of the domain is in this format.

computer_name\user_name

It already assumes your domain name by default so you need to force it to use the local accounts. If you want to logon locally you have to specify the local computer name and local user name in the format above. Kind of a pain if you don't know the computer name right off hand because it is not on the logon screen any where.

Thanks Jacee. I just included the domain name (for what felt like the 5th time, but it must have been the first time) and it worked.
